Hi everyone, new to the boards here. I was walking with my daughter and found an unusual plant that I think is Ginseng. We live in WA State and the plant is in a forested area.
Your comments are greatly appreciated
Thanks

Yeah I would think it is ginseng but I don't have much experience with it.
Swens is our resident ginseng expert, so he might be able to help you out with your question.
Here's a like that he posted a while back with some pics that might be able to help you out.

The leaves look exactly like ginseng, but ginseng does not have stem that looks like a small tree (wood). The stem of a ginseng plant is just like that of a weed or flower. In your second photo it looks like the leaves come out of a wood stem, and if that is the case this is not ginseng.

Swens, ginseng does have 5 stems each with 5 leaves correct?
90% of the ginseng plants have 3 branches from the main stem with 5 leaves on each. The young ones have less and the real old ones can have up to 4 branches with no more than 20 total leaves on a plant.

On a few occasions you will find 5 prongs. 25 leafs. I have found one in my life. Close to 20 yrs of digging seng. Had a pic on my cellphone of it but changed phones. Estimated the plant to be close to 40 yrs old if not older and the biggest root I have ever seen.
i think this plant is a small buckeye tree.....
I know it is not ginseng
I have seen this plant here in so. illinois
That is not ginseng no.
That is not ginseng no. It is a buckeye tree. I live in Ohio an hunt seng every year. Most enjoyable time there is. Season to dig start tomorrow September 1st.
Here are a couple of Ginseng pictures, one with berries and one with leaves turning yellow.
