Has anyone heard about pricing for wild ginseng this year?? Is a 50year old root that weighs 1 oz dry anything special?

I talked with Wiebke Fur and they don't have a price set yet, but they expect it to be a good year (price wise). Last year the price got into the $500-$600 per dry lb.
That 50 year old root is a good one and is probably worth $30-$40.........somewhere in that range.

I have never looked for ginseng, but my neighbor's tell me that an old timer used to dig the roots on my family's farm years ago. I am going to try and find some this year. Thanks for the info.
Let me know if you dig up any Horney-Goat weed

I always say I am going to look for it and never do. I haven't really looked for it before so Swens is going to have to take me under his wing.
Hello everyone,
I have heard of finding ginseng before but have never tried it. Where can you sell the roots around here, I am from northwest IL. And when digging up the roots all you have to do is dig them up and then clean them off and dry them right? Do I need to keep any of the leaf material or do they not want any of that? Like I said this is knew to me so I was just looking for some suggestions. thanks
