Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this one was shot in the Whitewater st forest/park down in southern mn. 186 6/8.
Hey guys,
Over the next couple of years were trying to track down some of the largest whitetails ever shot on Public Land so we can do Public Land Big Buck Profiles for on our video.
Anyone know of a giant whitetail taken in their state??
I can think of a few like the largest typical shot in WI last year 192" bow.
I haven't started researching it yet. Thought I'd ask you guys first
Thanks Guys!

I almost forgot about that one. I got the newspaper clipping somewhere. Opening day of Mn gun season if I remeber right. In case I can't find the clipping what is the name of that buck and anymore info?
We might start a page on our website of Public Land Giants when we get enough together...

I think its just called the "Whitewater Buck". I googled it, and found the pick on some replica site. I remember seeing the clipping in the outdoor news, it was a hispanic man who didn't really want to be recognized, and he sold it right away to some taxidermist.
Yup thats the one I have a newspaper clipping of. If I remember right I thought it grossed around 211" but I could be wrong...
Yeah, its got a lot of antler, but also a lot of deductions, unfortunatley.
Steve Hollencamp, Cottage Grove, MN, shot a 200-plus nt in Whitewater in the mid 90's. shotgun kill.
Jesse Godwin, Des Moines, IA, shot a 204-5/8 in Iowa, last fall. bow kill.
I'll see if I can dig up any more...
Thanks Grasshopper,
Keep up the good work.
Jim-Bob has the shed off the Iowa 2005 non-typical shot on public scoring 243" North American Whitetail Sept. 06 article. Can't remember the name off the top of my head...

Here is a buck I would have liked to get. This one was taken in MN in 2006 by Deb Luzinski during an MBRB hunt. Its sort of public in a way. The MBRB (Metro Bowhunters Resource Base) helps reduce the population of deer within the city limits. Anyone can join, and theres a LOT of hugh deer there.

Here's another one of the MBRB hunt pics. This one was taken by Marlene Odahlen Hinz also in 2006.

Good Call BuckSlayer,
Thanks for the research...
Keep it up buddy this is great! My only question is, is this MBRB hunt for women only because they are sure stackin them up!
Im am member of the MBRB thats why I know about those bucks.
Its for everyone, and there are a lot of great bucks taken every year. Those 2 are just the top 2 at the moment. (until I get back home) I hope!
They have rules that require you to take a doe or more prior to taking any bucks, and I think I seen something like 35 shooter bucks the last time that I hunted there in 2 days, but couldn't shoot one because I had to get a doe first. :pull_hair: I had a great time anyways though just being in the woods and getting to see some monsters of whitetail.

Is that a Public Land buck too?
Sort of. You have to get drawn for the hunts, and the only way that you could film on it is if you either filmed yourself, or you and your partner both got drawn.
You also have to take a doe first in most of the hunts.

I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to ever hunt that area but I was just wondering if they would be considered Public Land Bucks or not? Or if we should do a Big Buck Profile on them for Public Land or not...
Its a hard call really. Yes these places are all public, but there all public parks or something like that. Anyone can bowhunt them as long as you qualify with your bow and get drawn.
