so far i have had real bad luck with expandable because i shot a buck with one last year and i even cliped theheart and did not find any blood until 5 yards were he died, just last sunday morning my dad had his rage 3 blade open up in the air and totally missed a huge 8 pointer, also have nothad very many pass throughs with expandables between my dad and I.i shot a 9 pointer this year nov 1 with some cut on contact fixed blades, flew straight, double lunged him, total pass through, and and real good blode even no hey only went 10 yards.

In my experience if you don't get that perfect kill zone shot the expandable broad heads just don't blow thru bone like the fixed heads. I like the thunder head it has never let me down.

Never tried an expandable. Been a Muzzy guy since day 1 and haven't had any problems. I'm like John Candy in Splash.......when I find something that works, I stick with it!

Im definitly a fixed blade guy. If there is an opportunity to remove any possible problem between me and getting my game, I do it. I use scent killer, I walk quietly, I wear camo....so I also use fixed blade broad heads. I love the G5 Montechs. They're very thick blades and are machined from a solid piece of steel.

I know expandables, especially rage, are very popular and have great results most of the time. With that being said, I use fixed blade broadheads because mechanically they can NOT fail. You dont have to worry about the head opening in flight, not opening on contact, deflecting off on quartering away shots, etc...If you tuck a good sharp fixed blade behind the shoulder, you're gonna have a dead deer.

    Default Bad to the Bone

I am a Muzzy Man,,and have been for years. Love' em and they put deer on the ground. They will bust right through a deers backbone on a straight down shot and will punch through the shoulder blade if you happen to push an arrow a bit forward. Always had great luck with them and you can easily replace the locking blades and hit the chiseled tip with a whetstone to hone the tip and edges sharp.

I'm a fixed blade guy. I like a one piece BH. No replacement blades or screws. I like mine solid so nothing can go wrong. I shoot a 125 grain 3 Blade Magnus Snuffer. 1 1/4" cutting diameter, gets the job done very well.

In the last few years I've switched back and forth between the rage 2 blade and the montec's. I had a little tuning issue last year that forced me to shoot the rages and they flew great and I was impressed with them. This season with my rig well tuned I was able to group the montecs well out to 80 yards so I stuck with them. I also feel alot more confident with a onepiece cut on contact style broadhead. I have had issues with the point of the montecs folding over rendering them unsharpenable but they have always been good for atleast one deer.

Rage guy myself, started this yr out being my first yr bow hunting with a fixed blade, wounded 2 bucks both pass throughs behind the front shoulders, both deer still alive one with a severe limp from a broad head on the inside of the opposite shoulder, switched to the two blade rage hooked, everydeer has dropped within earshot, leaves an incredible hole both entrance and exit. But have heard some really bad things about the 3-blades

I have used 100 grain Thunderheads since they first came out. Can't see myself ever using any other broadhead.

    Default Muzzy...oh yeah

100 gr. fixed blade muzzy, bad to the bone and just a great broadhead! No need to switch, but there are a lot of good heads out there.
