Thread: Economic stimulus package passes the house

Default Economic stimulus package passes the house

Whether these packages are actually going to work or not I guess is up for debate, but why must something of good intention always include a bunch of extra spending that in these times are NOT needed?!

    Taken from this article.
Democrats had already dropped provisions that Republicans had mocked, including money to resod the National Mall and expand family planning programs.
What other misc, junk spending is in the package?

All this bill is is more spending and more goverment control. Personally I would love to see the goverment less in my life.

This is going to be a disaster, you cannot bail a company out. Once these companys feed off the goverment teet, they are always going to and you and I are footing the bill for all of it.

I personally say, let them fail, another company will succeed in their spot. If a company cannot succeed on thier own, then they ought not be in business.

Amen. Competition is the American way. The tightrope between success/failure is one every business has to walk. All self-employed people and those who own or work in small businesses understand and accept this.

Once the gov't gets involved in "bailing out" businesses, where does it draw the line between who gets rescued and who doesn't?

My cousin and my best friend are both builders. When the housing market takes a nose-dive, no one comes to their door with a "stimulus package." They figure out how to survive and weather the storm...or they look for other work.

This economy sucks! Who knows what will help and what wont. I agree that this is not going to be solved by any one thing. I guess I just hope that things get back in line. With jobs being shipped overseas and everything what can we do? All i know is if things get real bad and we go into a bad depression like soup lines etc, we are all in for a rude awakening and things that we debate on here like qdma and stuff will seem pointless. Cuz we will be in the woods hunting to feed out families. And if that happens imagine the chaos in the woods. If its that bad there will be no dnr to enforce the tresspassing rules etc and it will be every man for themselves! Its scary to think about!
Fire up the grill cuz bowhuntin isn't catch and release!

People made it through the last one and we will make it through this one if indeed it happens again. The smart and those with common sense will survive, the weak and those without will not.

Yep Nite, the cream always rises to the top. But then the liberals skim the cream and pass it around to those "unfortunate" who sat around and watched the rest of us work...lol

Big oil found out this country cant stand $4 a gal gas...when will the automakers figure out we cant take $40,000.00 pickup trucks either? I partly blame this on the unions... explain to me how you can justify a $35 an hour janitor. Its no one thing wrong, its a culmination of things that have pushed pricing beyond the affordability of working class America. Unions better wake up too. Its time for some consecions in pay and benefits or they will negotiate themselves into more plant closures and no work just like thay have with every major industry in this country. Dont even get me started on the "Tax and Spend" liberal policies..if they put the working man outa work whodahell is gonna pay the taxes?

Ha,Ha Stump good one. I wish that were true stump. Or at least less radical ones.
I am afraid it will be way worse soon.

Omama appointed GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt to his economic advisory team. This has corrupt written all over it!
He was doing business with Iran despite US sanctions.
GE received $140B in bailout funds.(So obama's economic advisor who ran his company down so much it needed a 140 billion thats $140,000,000,000 to survive is our countries economic advisor?)It will be interesting to see if Immelt's salary is capped at 500k.
    GE owns Nbc,Msnbc.
GE makes wind turbines, and solar panels. Pair that with Obama's "climate change" and "Geen Power" agenda and I see huge government contracts awarded to GE.
Not to mention Obamas plan in the works to CENSOR Right wing radio shows.
Hmmm. Censorship of conservitive radio, owner of two major news networks on staff... sounds like somebody is setting up for some major Propaganda.
