Thread: Bowfishing Spoonbill?

  1. Default Bowfishing Spoonbill?

Has anyone here ever bowfished for spoonbill? I know its legal in Oklahoma and I go snaggin all the time. Thought it'd be cool to stick one with the bow. If so what kind of rig do you use? I have an old school recurve that I use for carp and small gar but I'm having second thoughts about using it on spoonbill. I have a bow that can be turned down to bout 60#'s give or take a couple #'s. Would you think it smart to use it with an AMS slotted retriever, float, and stingray arrows? If anybody has any input I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Ive looked into the regs for Ks, Mo, and Ok, but the only one that I've found it to be legal was Ok. Now if I've overlooked something feel free to correct me b/c I'd love to try it any chance I can get.

It is legal in South Dakota and Nebrask on the Missouri River. This year has been a tough one though. This is my third year with a tag and no fish. They only surface for a second and then are back down. Super tough to hit. I use the same set up as I do for carp, but I did hit one fish this year and pulled the arrow out of it. Good luck.
