Default Make over on my recurve

As a few of you know I had some trouble with my recurve last fall. I lost 12lbs In draw weight In a year and then later on In the hunting season last year I noticed some splinters coming off of my top limb on the outside edge. 2 weeks ago I took It apart (It's a takedown recurve) and gave a shot at fixing the splinters. In the process I decided to sand the whole riser down also and give that a new coat of finish. It turns out that the riser has some very pretty wood beneath all of that paint that I had on It before. It's been 14 years since I last seen the wood on the riser being I painted It because I hated the brown non see through fiberglass on the limbs.

Last night I got It all put back together. The spot that I fixed (splintered area) turned out real good looks wise, It's hard to even see where I did It at. I also varnished up the limbs with a few good coats as well but there still not the looks that I want to see. It didn't all go as planned though. After I strung It up and pulled It back a few times I noticed the top limb had a small tiny twist to It. It's a very small twist but It's there, I'm not to happy! It goes back straight after I twist It, I just hope like hell It will straighten out In time being It's such a small twist. Time will tell I guess, I've seen a few straighten out before that had small twist's to them. I did gain another 2lbs at my draw length. I'm now at 63lbs at 28". It's still no where what It once was, It use to be 73lbs at 28". I checked some sites on the Internet and found a site called Onestringer. They make arrow wraps and limb wraps. I ordered 4 limb wraps to put on the limbs to cover that ugly brown fiberglass. They should get here Friday. Here's some pics of my redone takedown recurve.

Here Is my recurve before I re did It.

    Here's after.

Nice work, looks much better. Onestringer makes a great product. Ordered some arrow wraps from him a year ago will getting more soon.
I suspect the twist in the upper limb is due to removing wood and fiberglass from one edge of the limb and not the other. Removing material from one edge of the limb and not the other will affect the way the limb bends so I would think that is what's happening.
Send Chad (Holm-Made) a PM as he had build many a bow and can give you more information than I can.

    Default 100% Finished!!

I actually didn't remove any wood or fiberglass, just sanded It down some and added glue to It. The good thing Is the twist Is just about gone now. I think It was the new glue being a tad stiffer then the rest of the limb but now Is finally relaxing after I've shot a good 100 arrows or so out of It.

Here Is the limb wraps from Onestringer, I really like the looks of her now!!!!

Looking good. Onestringinger makes some nice stuff. I'm like you, don't really care for brown glass, black is OK on some bows. That really dressed up your bow nicely.
