    Default new to mushroom hunting

    Hey
I was out shed hunting in the hills and notice many times a little orange mushroom thing growing under dead trees and around fallen limbs. Is that an indication of where morels will pop up or turn into morels? Wish I would have taken a picture. Thanks for the help

I would say probably not, but let's hear what others have to say too. I know morels can be found in other places, but I pretty much ONLY check under/near dead elm trees that still have peeling bark on them. I find 50-100 lbs every year and have been picking them for years.

i agree with swens, prolly not. we found some today turkey huntin and we find alot of ours here around poplar trees. Seems they grow really good there and don't know why. I'd say within a few days they'll be everywhere!!
