Hello
I asked my processor to keep the ribs for me on my deer, just to try. Any one else had Deer Ribs before? Any tips, recipes, techniques that may have worked?
Thanks in Advance!!

grind them up and make burger LOL,
oR you could soak them in kerosene for a few weeks then throw a match,
Just kidding of course, ive never even thought about deer ribs, Let us know if you come up with a good recipe
I gave BBQ deer ribs a try for the first time last year and had no success. I cooked them in a crock pot and the meat fell of the bone but the flavor was just not there. I do summer sausage, burger, breakfest sausage, and brats; but will most likely not try ribs again. It may have been something I did being a newbie to the whole rib thing, but from now on I will use the meat for burger. I am with Parker though, if you do make good deer ribs could you let us know how?
I wouldnt waste my time, but then again I'm not a big rib man regardless.
our deer down here do not have enough meat on their ribs to fool with, so we've never tried them. we just eat everything else. the grocery store i shop in has some really good rib rub, but not having tried it on wild game i really don't know if it would throw some taste into your ribs or not. be glad to send you some if you think it would help. ( we do eat all other parts of the deer. lol)

I won't fool with the ribs on deer, but my buddy says I'm throwin the best part away!!lol All I can tell ya to do is sloooow smoke them and see what happens. Also, for sure put a rub on them the night before smokin and spray them with apple cider while on the smoker every hour or so to keep them tender. this is what I do with pork/beef ribs and they tun out great!

mmm sound good
The best way to serve ribs is to the dog.... on some deer there is enough meat there to bone out for grinding, otherwise Fido gets a snack.
Just had some BBQ Venison Ribs my friends father cooked up over the weekend and they were quite tasty. He does put a lot of time into preparing them though.
First they remove usually remove the rib bones from between the meaty portions.
Next he trims away as much fat as he possible can. He's retired so he's got some time on his hands;)
Next he simmers them in water with Onions, Carrots, Celery, Pepper, etc... for a couple hours making sure to skim off the fat and crud from the surface of the water every so often. (This is blasphemy if you do it to pork ribs though, no boiling).
Next he throws them on the grill and plasters them with home made BBQ sauce.
Pretty good stuff and when he makes them I've never had tallow stick to the roof of my mouth like when I've made venison ribs.
