Thread: Atv tire chains

  1. #1

    Default Atv tire chains

I'm thinking about getting some chains for the winter and just wondering if there's any difference from one to the next. Think they are needed? Mainly driven on cement if that matters much.

    4 link spacing....2 link spacing....twisted link....v bar link....diamond pattern?

    Where to pick them up?

Best place in the Midwest to get them is at a Mills Fleet Farm. You can also get them at Hanco in the Cities or Menominee Supply in Menominee or via special order from Blain's Farm and Fleet. Two link spacing chains have a cross chain every other link on the side chain, whereas a 4 link spacing has a cross chain every fourth link. The only way to go on ATV's is with the v-bar or wedge-bar cross chain, but they will mark up softer asphalt.

FYI: I am in sales at Peerless Chain in Winona, MN and we make and distribute these to retailers all over the US and abroad.

Stump: PM me with your tire size and address and maybe Christmas will come early???

On pavement you won't have much trouble just the way you are. On ice (lake) chains work great, or you can take your stock tires and put some sheet metal screws in the lugs. I did that one year and they grip the ice very well.

So you can choose......swapping wheel and tires out depending on terrain or taking on & off chains.
