He will retire, then he will come back for another season.

I really dont care what he does or how he does it. I hope he comes back, but as far as I'm concerned he can wait till Sept to decide. If he comes back we'll be better off...period!

Bottom line: we wouldn't have been in the playoffs without his great play this year.

Realistically, as to next year...I'm already writing that one off. Favre just cant physically make it through another year I'm afraid. So, whether he comes back or not we wont be going anywhere more than likely IMO.

So 12 million to get 1 more win than T-Jack is worth it? Ziggy should invest that money in a real NFL coach.

Hopefully he comes back for another year. Favre is fun to watch and the team is MUCH better with him on it. If you think Ziggy or Viking's fans are disappointed for investing $12 million in Favre you're dead wrong.

I just get a kick out of viking fans who for years said Brett is over rated and he sucks and he throws too many picks, and then he was the best thing since sliced bread, and then his failure cost them the game. It was worth the 17 weeks of listening to smack talk to watch him throw that pick, priceless.

Packer fan here, first let me state I loath the Vikings They are by FAR my most hated team in the league. When Favre came back once again and played for them this year he turned into the enemy, as a matter of fact enemy #1. I wished nothing but ill will and bad fortune on him and the rest of the team, but watching him last night (I by no means was rooting for them) made me remember what is so captivating about Favre He is a warrior, tough as nails and impossible to keep down, he wont go down as the best QB ever(Manning is doing a good job of sewing that up) but there is no argument that he will go down as the toughest most competitive SOB to ever sling a football. With that I hope he hangs it up for good because he makes the queens better and he should leave with some dignity although he lost most of that when he put a purple costume on.

Nite, I am a native MN guy who is a Packer fan, I enjoyed watching Brett throw that pick. I will not set foot in his steak house in GB, he traded his whole career in Green Bay for a chance to stab them in the back and win a SB with the enemy, he was a failure in this quest, he won't get that close again and he needs to quit and say he is sorry. I know to viking fans this may sound bitter but when he said that true Packer fans will understand why he signed with the vikings, I understood the stupidity of Brett Favre. The Packers have won 12 world championships the vikings none, if god didn't want it that way it wouldn't be that way. Or if you have a sence of humor how many vikings does it take to win a SB? We will never know..

What drives someone to be fan of a team to such a degree that it alters your life so, you wish harm on someone, want someone to apologize for whatever reason, get in fights, lose sleep, change your eating patterns, eat..sleep..breathe someone or something, glamorize some guy/some team you see on tv, etc.... This is pro sports we are talking about here right? Or what is it....I'm curious.

Fan is short for fanatic Stump.

    fa⋅nat⋅ic  /fəˈnætɪk/
–noun 1. a person with an extreme and uncritical enthusiasm or zeal.
    –adjective 2. fanatical.

    Synonyms:
    1. enthusiast, zealot, bigot, hothead, militant. Fanatic, zealot, militant, devotee refer to persons showing more than ordinary support for, adherence to, or interest in a cause, point of view, or activity. Fanatic and zealot both suggest excessive or overweening devotion to a cause or belief. Fanatic further implies unbalanced or obsessive behavior: a wild-eyed fanatic. Zealot, only slightly less unfavorable in implication than fanatic, implies single-minded partisanship: a tireless zealot for tax reform. Militant stresses vigorous, aggressive support for or opposition to a plan or ideal and suggests a combative stance. Devotee is a milder term than any of the foregoing, suggesting enthusiasm but not to the exclusion of other interests or possible points of view:

I guess it's hard to explain, I love football I played it, I coached it, I watch it. I bring my son to Lambeau every year. I coach and am a councilor at a Packer player camp every summer, I have got to meet several players over the years and I guess my support for the Packers is based on the fact that they will never move. I would never wish injury on any player and I also know the rival thing is more important to the fans than the players, I still do not care for the vikings the coaching staff or any of their fans my own family members included. Of course this is at noon on most Sundays only the rest of the week I am a pretty normal guy. What Brett did was wrong, and he failed.

Football like any other sport is a business. A business that it's one and only goal is to make money. With collective bargaining, there's no way a team...a player can stay in one spot forever. That's how it is in sports today whether one likes it or not and whether you feel that your favorite player bailed or not. Your horse didn't run away(lama in Nite's case ), your life is still intact and at the end of the day....it's still something one watches on TV to be "entertained". I enjoy a lot of sports. Some that I've played and those that I watch, but I no where near feel like I need to slit my wrists(or those of someone else) because of something I see on ESPN. lol

Brett apparently wanted to give it a run at a SB again, so he picked the team he thought gave him the best chance to do it and one that needed a QB. Neither of you would be saying a word about this if he went to an AFC team. I guess that is unless that team was playing the Pack in the SB.

I'm going to have to find a hated team to root for next yr. The Pats were fun during their run because everyone hated them with a passion. Whose the new one for '10? Hmmm LOL!!!

Stump, for one I have no motive in this thread only truthfully stating my opinion. If you think Brett picked the Vikings because it gave him the best chance to win you are only 50% right he also did it out of vengence. His best shot at another SB was to come back with the Packers full force after 07 but instead he waffled and the team HAD to move on, like you said it's a business. I think someone has some deep down internal issues about the Vikings season they need to deal with, just dont go talk to your Favre fathead and beg him for one more season it wont help, trust me. As far as looking for the next hated team to root for, that is an extremely sociopathic statement, Which incedently, if you hav'nt noticed is my mo, Welcome aboard lol.

What is wrong with a grown man wanting to play a kid's game one more year? In 6 years he will be using a walker. I am a DIE HARD Green Bay fan and have absolutely ZERO ill feelings towards #4. Who are we to tell him that he should have just disappeared to his tractor when Gayted Thompson basically pushed him out the door? We have no idea what it is like to be a "legend" pro athlete.

I am a Vikings fan through and through, but still respected Farve when he played for the Packers. He is one hell of an athlete and tough as nails. If he chooses to retire (again) then so be it. He was fun to watch in green and yellow and in purple and gold. I have heard a lot about him "BLOWING" it on Sunday, but there was a lot more to it than that. Too many men in the huddle after a time-out is coaching. Dumb mistake and they gave that game away.

A couple of questions for the Packers fans that now "hate" Brett Favre:

    1. How would you like it if millions of people thought they had the right to tell you what to do with your life/career? Most people in Wisconsin think they have that right with Favre and it's pathetic.

    2. Packer fans in general have NO CLASS! Favre gave your state 16 years and you boo him when he comes back to play in Green Bay? What the hell is wrong with you people? When Favre broke the career touchdown mark in the Metrodome he got a standing ovation from Vikings fans. He had done nothing but cause our fans heartache but was still recognized as a great quarterback with great accomplishments. You'll never see something like that in Green Bay.

Sorry Packer fans. Most of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

[ When Favre broke the career touchdown mark in the Metrodome he got a standing ovation from Vikings fans.

Thats because he hadnt thrown a game for the the vikings yet at that piont in the season. And thats the only reason they gave him a standing ovation. Now the season has passed and and they hate him again..Im so sick of listening to viking vans pissing and whining about how ''Brett" lost that game for them..For real???Am I the only one who watched the game? Apperantly I am. '' To the fans that I have dealt with'' Not pin pionting anyone in this thread to make that clear.. But are you serious?!?!? I clearly remember when the Packers won there last SB and all I heard from EVERY single Viking fan was how much Brett Farve and the packers sucked for the ENTIRE month of Feb after the SB.. Are you kidding me?? Um yeah they must suck cuz they just one the SB you idiots..From that piont on I walked away from watching and ''following'' football for a long time because of the Bull**** I listened too from Viking fans.Im a dedicated packer fan and always will be.Midway through this season I started pullin for the vikings ofcourse I wanted the Packers to win but man it would be cool to see the vikings go to the SB only because of Brett.I mean cmon they have NEVER won it before..And this is when I realized what most NOT all Viking vans were all about= any excuse they could get there hands for losing a game> Its Football people>not a war>not an earthquake that we shouldnt be paying for>not a neighbor shooting the deer you have been after>FOOTBALL> FOOTBALL>FOOTBALL> Entertainment and thats it..... Franny- What Viking fans on this board Is saying Favre blew It? None that I can see. Personally all I see Is hard feelings and crying from a few cheese heads on here. If anyone knows football knows Favre wasn't the reason the Vikes lost on Sunday. If one really wants to point fingers point them at Peterson and the rest of the fumblers on the team. There are plenty of people (Vikings and Packer fans) who blab their mouth saying this and that who haven't a clue WTF their talking about when talking football. It's no different then anything else whether It's hunting or whatever that you have to understand who the moron Is who's doing the talking. After the game was over Sunday I talked with a few "know It all" Vikings fans that are friends of mine. They haven't a clue what football Is about but they sure got on the band wagon that Favre was the reason they lost and he sucks. A few weeks earlier these same guys were tooting Favre's horn. It just goes to show once again certain people you can't take what they say serious because they don't know any better but they sure think they do.

When I was younger (18 years old) I hated Favre while he was In Green Bay. A few years later I started changing my tone some for the guy. The guy Is such a competitor and just loves the game. How can anyone fault that for someone? I couldn't anymore and ever since that year I cheered on the Pack when I knew my Vikings weren't going no where which was most of the time. When he played for the Jets last year I cheered him on there too. I hope like hell he comes back again with the Vikes. He his absolutely a blast to watch!! You Packer fans were way spoiled for many years and It's too bad your GM couldn't keep YOUR QB around for another year or 2. Let Favre take his time, so what he earned It and then some.
