Default Building The Perfect Hunting Rig!!

This spring I will be purchasing a new Polaris Ranger 800 and I am in the middle of dreaming up the things that I will be bolting on to this pig..Believe you me Im not just buying this on a wimb.I have wanted a wheeler for many yrs. I decided to break from riding for a couple of yrs and sell my bike to make this a lil more money easy for me..I did my research on all the utv's and the ranger is clearly the way to go for sure. Now time for the add ons.Just wondering what you guys would-are- or have done to ur wheelers that you couldnt live without...? A winch is a no brainer for me and also a fold down full windshield and a full track set in the following yr too come.. So on that note lets build the perfect hunting rig and if you already have done it post some pics I would like to get some ideas you guys have used or home made things you guys have made or added on to ur rig.If you do not own a wheeler and want to build a hunting wheeler what would you do??

They quit building the perfect hunting rig in 1980 when International Harvester quit making Scouts.

I chose Realtree Snow Camo from camo clad for sure..For the amount of money that you have too pay extra for the ''Browning Edition'' I can camo it myself and add gun holders for half the cost..

I would hope that you would never shoot something from the buggy. The law says what 20 yards, I am sure that is followed. I know as a grouse hunter nothing ruins a hunt more than hearing a atv.

WOW!! How does a thread talking about a Ranger and other members wheelers get turned into poaching and shooting off of it?

100 percent serious about poaching from an ATV. It may be a little different in the southern part of the state, up in the north country it is common that "hunters" talk about shooting birds from the wheelers. I am against them shooting birds shout be about burning off boot leather, not driving from covey to covey. Big game hunting with transporting game is one thing, but ATV should not be allowed on trails in State and National forests simply because of the "few" bad eggs that break laws while driving ATV's.

Let's keep this thread on topic to Franny's ranger "accessorize me" plan.

Thanks for keeping it real Stump. The best accessory he can put on it is his wife... Don't know how such rip rap could score her anyway.....

Has nothing to do with hunting but since its winter, I would recommend a snow blade for your ranger, unless you have other means of clearing snow. I plow my driveway with a blade on my quad and it works pretty slick except for those wet nasty march snowstorms.

Here's my poor attempt at "art", but I'd hard mount a recliner in the back of it. Then Fran you could give rides!

haha!!!!!! Stump could you custom install a recliner in a John Deere Gator?

I highly recommend a hydrolic dump bed. We never got one for our gator cause we thought we would never need it for hunting and ice fishing. Well that was a poor decision. You would be amazed how many times you might want this option. Filling in holes in the logging roads, driveway, etc. Maybe you want to back that thing up to your buddy and dump that big 10 pointer right at his feet! You never know.

One thing I don't think I saw mentioned while skimming the thread is a winch. Not so much for your machine getting stuck, but for various other tasks that may arise.

    Any pics of the progress?

I can understand the argument on the atv's and hunting, I hope it's not just simple jealousy talking though. There are many ethical hunters who use atv's for their hunting and/or fishing.
