When does the season get kick started?

Should be pretty soon around here. We always pick up some while out turkey hunting.

I think the way the weather has been it will most likely be earlier than the past 2 yrs. The past 2 yrs it has been prime picking in the 2nd week of May. I think if the weather stays warm and we get some good moisture on and off we could have prime picking towards the end of april. Ground temps are already around 60. The bad thing though, is if they start coming and then we get a cold spell, we could have a poor year. This happened a few yrs back.

I live in southern Illinois and we are starting to find black mushrooms now.

I found 16 the other day when out trying to roost some turkeys. We are up to 74 now. It hasn't been real good so far yet. In years past we have found about double that at one time. Well I guess we are finding a few at least. We might be eatingthe ones I found the other day tonight.
