Thread: Public Land or Private?

    Default Public Land or Private?

Even though I have a lot of private land to hunt, I still spend more time hunting some of the public areas because of better sized and quality deer on some of my public places. Most of the private places I can hunt pretty much shoot everything of any size and don't do much for QDM in any.

I voted for private land because the poll was where I spent MOST of my time hunting. In the late season, I go on some public land as well though that is pretty good and doesnt see hardly any pressure in the late season..

I voted public since that is where I mostly hunt. Around me private land is to hard to get access to and I am not from around here. The only private that I do hunt is in WI and with the economy and needing to pay the bills just paying the $160 for 1 lisc. can get painfull. The private that I hunt is family land.

We spend all of our time during deer season on private land.

I hunted public land a few times when I was at college. The public land I hunted was decent at best... the private land we hunt is decent at best...
But at least we don't have to worry about or mess with other people hunting it for the most part.

I'm sure there is some really good public land to hunt out there but I have had better luck on private. Now we do hunt some public land (and some private land) quite a bit for pheasant when we go out to western KS and have good luck out there. You can count the times I have bow hunted deer on public land on two hand and I don't think my dad has ever hunted it in his life.

Early season i'm mainly on public, until the duck and pheasant hunters start trampin through, then i usually switch to mostly private.

Spent all my off-season scouting time this year on public. You never know what the season will bring, but my pre-season predictions are, my best sets are all on Uncle Sam's ground...

All of my hunting is done on private land, but I have always wanted to try hunting some public land. I hunt alot near Rushford, MN and I know there is some good public ground around the area but I guess it is kind of overwhelming to me to try and figure out how to hunt a new area that is typically large in size. Not to mention competition from other hunters on public land.

Private land unless a large group wants to get togeather and do a public land drive.

It is pretty hard to shoot deer on public land in my area. With all the pheasant hunters (me included) that stomp the public land everyday it is odd that the deer are in that area very often.
