    Default Gorilla tree stand

Has anyone else had a problem with the release strap that is provided with the Gorilla stands. I couldn't get mine to release last Nov and I had to take the bolts out in order to get it off the tree without cutting the strap. What can I use instead? Is it worth buying a new identical strap from Gorilla?

I have problems with the ones that I have. I took the straps off and replaced them with chains just to make it a little bit easier. I have had one to many scares trying to pull those stands down with one leg wrapped around a tree step!!!! Here is one tip that I have though when you are haning or taking down, stands I bought an old line mans belt from the electric company and man does that thing work slick. I can basically sit down hanging off of the tree and use both hands to hang the stand. Just a little tip for those hard to hang or hard to take down sets that you have.

I have one and ya it is a little hard to get off (if I have the same one), I use an additional ratchet strap which i feel makes it more secure. I'm sure you could use a heavy duty ratchet strap instead of the strap it comes with and it would be easier to get off and be just as secure.

Do you lift the stand up to loosen it? The stand sinks down on the tree a bit when you stand on it.

Thanks for the replies guys I think that I saw that Gorilla has a ratchet strap for their stands on their website that I might just go with that option. I broke the loop on the strap last year trying to pull it downward or whatever the weird instruction told you to do. Yes, I was lifting the stand upward when I was trying to remove it.
