Not usually. Last year on 2nd day of gun season I was soo tired and used my harness to tie myself to the tree. I dozed off and when I woke up a 110 inch 8 pointer was 45 yds away! I had already passed that deer several times during the season, but had it been a 150" deer I would have been upset.
I only have once since I have been deer hunting. Last season sometime in November and I was running on like not sleep and I was filming my dad. I didn't have my HSS on so we tied a rope around my waist to the tree and I fell asleep.![]()
Ground blind hunting is a whole nother story. Yeah you can tell how good of deer season we had last year...
It is nice to filming someone or have a cameraman with you that way you have another set of eyes out there to pay attention.

For morning sits I like to get in early, so then I'll pull my harness tight and take a tiny nap but that's about it. Maybe more so close my eyes and doze off.
When it comes to all day sits, I'm not sure there's one where I haven't got out of the tree and took a nap on the ground. When I get tired I get fidgety, so I figure what's the use of moving all around in a stand with the chance of dozing off or spooking deer when I can't sit still. Get down, take a 45min-1 hr nap and you feel like a million bucks! Plus I love taking naps in the woods.

I use to sleep in stand. When i was in school I would hunt ducks in the morning and deer in the afternoon. I was up at 4 and didnt get home after hunting till like 11. So by the end of season it took its toll and i slept in stand once and a while.
One day i woke up with 5 deer in the foodplot and one right under my stand.
I've slept in the tree a few times over the years. Never by choice, but its just soooo relaxing in the tree that sometimes its just hard not to fall asleep.
Thankfully I didn't fall out of my tree before harnesses were popular!

I fall asleep all the time or at least doze off. I always make sure I bring my harness for that reason alone. If I am tired I slip it on and tighten it real high above me. That way if I start to lean forward or to the side I feel the tug and instantly am awake. On one occasion I was in the stand early in the morning and had drifted off for about 20 minutes for so. I heard a noise woke up and had a 124'' at 35yds. I grabbed the bow and let it fly. I didn't stand up to take the shot, but took it sitting. It wasn't very pretty but he only went about 100 yards and was dead in the middle of a trail. Had good luck that day!
Yea.. I really enjoy a treestand snooze. I strap in tight, lean against my strap and zonk out. I let my mind sleep, while my ears hunt and take in all sounds of woods as darkness gives way to the dawn. Not much of an evening sleeper.. but an all day sit during the rut calls for a climber stand and a good harness, and some Z time for sure. Those of you that do snooze already know that your ears are your best hunting tool.. especially when you are trying to stay very still and avoid being busted by hunting with your eyes and your head on a swivel. You really do learn to discern squirrel noise from bird noise, from mouse noise, from turkey noise, and definitely deer noise. Not because you cranked your head to look, but because you no longer have to crank your head to look because you have learned the sounds. Not fool-proof.. don't get me wrong, but a great tool. Every time you open your eyes, the woods have a very fresh look and it seems that you have a better eye.. not sure how to explain that, but it is what it is.
zzzzzzz..... snork!

I think I am sleeping but I can hear everything going on around me if that makes sense?
I just can't do it...I can relax to the point of zoning out..but fully asleep....I keep thinking I'm going to fall out.
