Ya beat me to it. I was going to start an early goose thread. I will be headed out around the Windom area on Saturday morning. My nephew a has few geese and fields scouted out down there. I've heard good reports for local geese this year, but havn't seen a whole lot around where I work from the New Ulm area to Marshall. I have seen a few flocks in the cut wheat fields around the Marshall area. They always seem to disappear about this time of the year I don't get too serious yet. If I did the wife would probably be ready to shoot me by November. However, I do like to get out a couple of times and itch the trigger finger a little bit. Let us know how you did over the week end. Good Luck!

Well, we got cut off! A neighbor offered the land owner $100 to hunt the field I'd been scouting the past weeks!
    He got one! LOL..expensive goose!

We switched it up went dove hunting! Two limits in about 2 hours! What a blast! I went through two boxes of shells! LMAO!

Well it was kinda of a slow opener but I did get my opening day goose. I don't hit the early season too hard so I'm usually happy with my one goose on opening day. At least this year I didn't have to walk 150yds out into the slough to get it. Just a couple of corn rows this year. It was a slower morning so the flock that I got my goose out of caught us off guard. I think if all 4 of us would've been set up we would've maybe erased the flock of five. It was still nice being out. We saw a fair number of geese at a distance. The birds did seem a little educated already this year I guess it could've been the huge decoy spread and the over calling by the guys in the field down the road from us. I've always had better luck during the early season with a small decoy spread and a little calling.
