Thread: Looking for a sled

    Default Looking for a sled

Last year I saw a sled at Cabelas that was probably about 5' or 6' long and made of a far more durable plastic than a normal kid's sled, but never did buy it. It's not really an ice fishing sled....more used it for pulling deer out, etc....

I stopped at Cabelas, Gander and Fleet Farm and found nothing. If you happen to know what I'm talking about, Does anyone know who might be carrying them??

There are 2 of us in the family that have this sled for deer hunting. Dad's is blaze orange and mine is lime green. We both got ours at Fleet Farm in Rochester a few years back. Haven't looked recently at the sleds but definately worth waiting for the more durable sled.

    Hope you find one.

Was it like an Otter sled? I know they are really made for fishing, but I think they would work awesome for hunting..

Not an Otter. It's exactly like what DOR posted. Though I have been thinking about going back to take a look at the small Otter sleds to look at again to see how they would work out. The problem with them that I see is that they are pretty short. What DOR has is exactly what I'm looking for since it's longer and I would think it would sink into the snow less.

DOR, that's exactly what I had drummed up in my cobweb filled head as to how I'm going to get in a hunt or 2 yet this year. ha, ha Throw the snow shoes on, bow on my back and everything in a sled. Will it be worth the work? Probably not, but what the heck. Better than sitting on the couch.

The sled that Dor posted is pretty much the exact sled one of my friends uses..I have borrowed it before and it works dang good. Not sure about dor's, but I think my friend's is just regular kid's sled plastic..Thats why I thought maybe you were talking about an otter or something...

Something like Dor has though is definitely a sweet setup!

Dor posted the sled that my father has. I have the same thing only green. Now to think of it, I might have found my green one at Menard's (same thing but different color). I think the the name of mine was green meanie.

    Cabela's here carries them.
My dad got one a few years back for christmas. It is a waterfowl decoy sled the one he got. That thing is awesome and we use it for everything! Dragging dead deer out, hualing fire wood, waterfowl decoys, etc., heck one of my little cousins even used it for snow sledding (lol I think there was a little deer blood in it at the time). We used it this morning for goose hunting. We need a new one though the bottom is starting to wear out and get holes in it.
