I don't know much at all about the mini 14. What makes it a great varmint rifle? I looked it up on Ruger's website and the tactical version looks awesome!

I have a Tikka T3 Light is .308 and love it! Im thinking of getting another one in 22-250 or .223 as a strictly varmint gun.

Don't own a special varmint gun but wouldn't mind having one. I just use my Savage .243 and it works well. But have killed a decent amount of yotes while turkey hunting with a 12ga. and a 3 1/2 in. turkey load.

I'd probably go with a .223 of some kind if I was going to get a gun just for varmints.

Thumbs up Mini All The Way

I always use my Mini-14 for yotes! Love the fast follow-up shots and accuracy. And because I go against the grain, I shoot open sights. Most yotes are well within a hundred yards by the time the trigger is pulled anyway. I usually droop in a 10 round clip just for the sake of saving my back while it's on the sling (those 20 and 30 round clips get obnoxious for hunting if you ask me) and I keep the factory 5 rounder in my pocket just in case. 55 grain FMJ is my bullet of choice for lettin the air out of 'em. ...Would like to invest in a bolt action scoped setup for some long range shooting needs someday. It's a tough call for me: torn between .17 Rem Fireball, .204 Ruger, or the classic .22-250...
