    Default hunting land

I am new to the board so please take it easy on me for a few days.

I want to get into hunting coyotes in Northern Illinois. I have never gone coyote hunting before, I have only done squirels, rabbits, and goose. Are there any good public hunting areas in Northern Illinois where I can set up?

What should I expect when I am out, and how should I go about setting up to ensure the best odds of seeing a yote? Any other help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

First of all mgoblue, welcome to TMH!

I don't know about the land of N Illinois, but coyotes are one of those animals that you should be able to get permission on private land just by stopping at the landowners house and knocking on some doors. Not that public land wouldn't be good for you, but just an idea for you in case you wanted some additional land to hunt. And you never know, through that process you might gain some relationships that may allow you to hunt other animals as well.

There are other members on here who are much better predator hunters than I, so I'll leave it to them to give you some direction and pointers.

    Good luck!
