    Default Respecting Land Owners

So I heard some pretty disheartening comments made at Shed Fest Saturday night. When I hear someone saying if land isn't posted every 25 ft then its free game. It really leaves a taste in my mouth, and it's people that make comments like that, that ruin the chance of gaining permission to access private land for people that don't own it. I'm lucky enough my family has land to hunt so I don't have to worry about having somewhere to hang a stand or look for sheds. So often I hear people complain about how hard it is to get permission on private land. You can thank jack heads that go where ever they want and cross line fences for that. Another pet peeve of mine is when someone ask to hunt, fish, walk around, or whatever and all the sudden have all their friends and family in there. It's no wonder why it's so hard for people to gain access when very few people show respect for land owners these days. For all the people that do... give yourself a pad on the back and keep up the good work!!

Not sure which state that posted sign law is (I know some states are that way), but in MN, Im fairly certain that its still considered trespassing even if the land does not have posted signs around it.

Also, I completely agree with what you are saying..

How about the resentment of any land owner that says no, no matter what the reason. Even if I didn't hunt my land I wouldn't take too kindley to anyone out walking around my land, and without permission there is going to be a problem.

You heard that there? I'm shocked! Everyone I talked to had a very professional attitude about everything. I guess though; Not everyone will have the same high level of morals that we'd like to see.

Last year we caught two guys filming on the land we hunt on . They said we didn't need to kick them off cuz they weren't hunting, just getting some footage for a hunt they were gonna do on the land in a few weeks.

You didn't need to kick them off because they weren't hunting? Where you hunting private land of some type where they also have permission to hunt it? Also was this like lease deal?

If it was a lease, I'd bitch about them being there during your paid for time.

If it was your land, Man, I'd like to see someone try to tell me I don't need to kick them off my land. It would be UGLY!

We don't own the land. We take care of it for the owner who doesn't live around here. So we decide who hunts there. The guys had no right to be there. Just never had a trespasser warn me he was coming back. Funny part is he could have hunted there if he just had asked before he went.

Speaking of no respect for a landowner, did you guys hear about the guy who got caught shed hunting in Drurys & former Skoronski land among others? Apparently he is from Wis and was staying in a motel. When they checked his room they found 120 sheds & 3 trail cameras or so the story goes.

pinski79, That guy is just as bad as the guy who invited me to a huge drinking party. He gave me directions to my land.
