    Default Sept 1st

I haven't looked into the regulations yet this year, but the standard "opening day" of MN Ginseng season is Sept 1st. Here is a pic of what it should look like now and for the first week or so of Sept. Then it starts to turn to a yellow/gold color and the leaves droop down. Just an fyi, most ginseng plants have three groups of 5 leaves that all come out of the same spot on the stem. They also have a flower coming out of the middle that the berries grow on. I have been a ginseng hunter since I was a small kid, so if you have any questions at all send me a PM or email.

    Default Good question

I have looked and can't find any info on the ginseng season on the internet. I know they used to have it in the fall license book so if you buy your bow license in the near future check in there. Loony, I will take you out and show you the ropes.

I hope that Josh will help me "finally" this year. I talked with Jason Wiebke this morning and he plans to be married to it for the next couple of months.

    Default Selling Ginseng

The best place to sell your Wild Ginseng in S.E. MN and Western Wisconsin is probably Wiebke Fur. The link to their website is on our Sponsor Links page.

    Default Licenses

I just talked to Wiebke Fur in Eitzen, MN and their is no license fee to dig ginseng in MN. It is $11.00 for a license in Iowa and approx $30 in Wisconsin for non-residents.
