Ginseng Photos

I went out today and took a few photos of what ginseng is looking like right now. These pics were on a west facing slope. These pics will show that you should be looking for more than just a green plant with red berries.

Normal looking plant for this time of year:


Large plant that is missing some leaves....this could be from a variety of things. A deer could have eaten the leaves or they just could have fallen off naturally:


Just starting to turn yellow:


Huge 20 leaf plant turning yellow and still has berries:

Easily overlooked plant. It has turned yellow already (most likely from a lot of sunlight) and leaves have fallen off........except for 2:

Is that really Ginseng? I have always thought they were but never really quite sure.

Is there another plant that look almost like ginseng? I have seen a plant that looks almost like the pictures you provided, only instead of the red seeds it has purple (almost black) seeds. Is this also ginseng?

There are actually a few different plants that look like ginseng and that is what makes it tough to find. The plant with the purple/black seeds is not ginseng.
