Congrats on the doe Booner!! Lets get after the big guys.
Close but no cigar. I saw 9 deer, 6 in shooting range. I was going to shoot a doe, but as I was raising my bow to draw she bolted about 20 yards, stopped and looked around nervously, wagged her tail and walked away. I had a fawn at the base of my tree watching her and then walked away with her. Had a 1 1/2 year old 6 point with in 10 yards but let him pass. Watched a fawn try to eat a large apple I threw out on my way to the stand. She couldn't get her mouth around the apple to take a bite so she licked it and pushed it about 5' trying to get a bit. Finally she tried to smash it with a front hoof but missed the apple. She just stood there staring at the apple like a little puppy, finally she turned and walked away. It was pretty comical.
When I decended the tree and tried to climb off my climber, the foot I was stepping with slipped and I heard my groin snap in the opposite leg. I have pulled groin muscles before, but NEVER like this. OMG did that hurt, I wasn't sure how I was going to get all the way back to my truck. It wasn't bad just walking, but once I got to the truck and tried to get in and had to lift my leg I just about fell backward. Today any activity hurts. I sure hope it gets better soon I want to hunt again this weekend.
Congrats Booner....

been out a few times now. things are really picking up by me. seen a few twitterpated bucks so far. seening as we can only shoot one deer in our area i wont be shooting a doe. shot at a coon the other night and my range finder and string had a unplesant meeting. derailed off my bottom cam... made me want to throw up. nothing too major, just had to redo my serving. gonna be a good weekend coming up. good luck to anyone headed out to the stand!
Sorry to hear about the injury konk. I have pulled a groin before but not nearly as bad as what you are describing. Take care of the groin so you can get back up in the tree. Meanwhile, any ground blind sets you could hunt? Good luck this weekend guys.
Hey guys. Looks like a good weekend to hunt. I will be taking some time off from work and I am hitting the woods 8 of the next 10 days. Hopefully I can get lucky and get one on the ground. Good luck to everyone else.
Not much action for me in MN the last few days. Passed a couple bucks but havent seen a "shooter" since opening weekend. Hunting MN all day tomorrow, then heading to WI to hunt all day Friday, Saturday and then Sunday morning.![]()
Well guys I managed to finally put 1 down Oct 30 after the rain that sunday. I had seen a couple shooters from this stand on the prior 2 sits but was'nt able to put it together, but i took a chance on the opposite wind and trusted my scent control and a lil VS1 estrous. I was calling to a nice buck about 150yds from me and this guy came flying in, went right to a scrape and ripped the tree apart. When I first saw him i thought he had about a 6 or 7 inch drop from his right antler base so I was locked in. He's mine! After bout 10 minutes he finally came clear of the trees, crossing my fingers he would take the 32 yd trail instead of the 49 yd....... Crap he's on the 49er, full draw and taking a couple deep breaths I grunted and settled my 40yd pin dead on the pocket. Touching off the release knowing he should drop 6 to 12 inches should put the arrow between the heart and top of the lungs. Smack the lumenok flew true and put him down after the fastest 150 yd sprint I've ever seen. Now is when the story goes bad, upon recovery obviously i was hoping to see a droptine.... Where the @%$# is it, I said to myself. I know I saw what I saw, but it's gone. Only thing I can figure is that a branch got lodged around his base and after is saw it I tried not to stare at his rack anymore. It must have come out after rippin that tree apart or when he went crashin through the woods. Oh well, he's still a respectable deer. Those who know me know I would've held out for a lil bigger but you can't pass a droptine when the oppertunity arises. Or so I thought135 2/8 190# probly a 3 1/2yr old......Good Luck to the rest of you!
Nice buck Chauncy!! I would definitely shoot that deer. Im still trying to get one but running out of days..
Just checking in. I'm struggling this year a bit. Not having the time I wish I had and not seeing the does I have in years past, so I haven't had a bow shot at one yet (got one with a gun). I'm seeing a fair amount of smaller bucks, but none in range have been quite big enough. I saw one monster, but I think he saw me first, I'll hope we meet again. It's been a fun year though, alot of the bucks I've had in range are decent 8 pointers with a ton of potential. It really gets your blood pumping watching a deer with a full set on his head go about his business. I'll keep hitting the woods and hopefully get you guys some better news. Congrats to you who have had success and good luck to you who are sticking with it.
Hey guys. I have been hunting Wisconsin hard the last couple weeks. Passed on 6 different bucks, only saw one shooter. I was hoping to get lucky but thats hunting I guess. The last buck I passed was a busted up 3 yr old 10 pt. I would have shot him but both of his g2s were broke off at the bases. He looked decent coming in, probably 19 inch inside spread. It was awesome to see him make a scrape at 6 yards though.I am done in WI, still have my MN buck tag. Going to be tough to get one down in MN at this point in the season but I am still going to try.
Well guys i was finally able to connect on one yesterday, pics and score coming soon
Congrats Booner. I look forward to seeing the deer and hearing the story.
It has been one of the most challenging seasons by far, but everything finally worked out 12/29. This late seasons has been difficult, between the temps and no snow, deer sightings have been minimal. I went to a farm that i usually don't hunt and moved in close to the bedding, this buck and another came in at 3:30 and that was all she wrote. He is not the biggest that I laid my eyes on this season but it was sure rewarding to tag out with two days to spare. A little ground shrinkage but still happy to put my tag on this buck.
Congrats Chauncy on a great buck and good luck team members if you are still hitting the woods.
You Shot thatJust kidding Congrats Chris!
P.S. You owe me lunch
I would rather be lucky then good
Congrats Chauncy and Booner nice bucks. My season ended yesterday just the opposite as it started. I saw plenty of deer on the opener but zilch yesterday. I didn't score on a deer this year, but I can't complain, I missed a doe on opening day.
