Is it November 2012 yet?? 2011 sucked arse for me!!
I've owned/tried/test over 20 different cams and absolutely nothing comes close to the Reconyx!
My only regret over the years is that instead of wasting money on all the other commercial cams..... I wish I just would have been buying ALL Reconyx models!!!
An archer tries to see how far away he can get from his target and still connect. A BOWHUNTER tries to see how CLOSE he can get to his.
That seems to be the #1 response from people I have talked to but dang they are expensive.

You can spend the money now or later but you will end up with a Reconyx. For around $200, probably alittle more, Big Rack Trophy Products makes a nice camera. The BRTP camera is very similar to the Bushnell but they are made in Holmen, WI.
"Luck is when preparation meets opprotunity."
Yep..Reconyx hands down - nothing else comes close.
For $200, I really like the bushnell trophy cam. Great sensory range and width, trigger time, battery life, pic quality, size, 2 year warranty, etc.. I have three of them and they are awesome! They had a few that had some serious issues, but they will replace them under warranty, and when you get a good one, they are great!

I may have to try one of the Bushnell cameras as I am not in the position to buy a $5-600 camera right now.

I guess it needs to be asked? What are you looking for in a trail camera? Battery life? pic. quality, flash or ir, ect.
Reconyx people could you show me a picture or two from your camera that will make me want to buy it over another brand such as the trophy cam, homebrew, ect. I think the pic quality of the reconyx pics is terrible for the money you invest in the trail camera. I would expect a lot better, JMHO. I do like their black flash. Lets do some comparisons and then we'll compare how much we have invested in our camera's.

I don't necissarily care about IR or flash I have both and actually kinda prefer the flash pics better. My Moultrie I40 takes the best quality daytime and nightime IR pictures when it actually takes a pic, horribly slow trigger speed. It either misses the deer all together or I get a pic of a tail leaving the scene. This year I have just left it on a mineral lick and it does ok but still miss alot of deer. Just gets their rump. My Cuddeback Captures flash models have the best trigger speed of the cameras I have. My Cuddeback Capture IR is garbage as far as I'm concerned. I guess I like trigger speed the most as most of my cameras are setup where deer walk past the camera and don't mill around in front of it. If I could get something with really fast trigger speed and then the picture quality close to my Moultrie I40 that would be what I would want.

Bushnell Trophy Cam
Moultrie M-80.
The new Stealth Cam (I'm blanking on the name).
All are very good.
Reconyx take a bunch of pics in an impressive fashion, IMO night pics are just average. Sticks in my craw how expensive they are though....
My brother just bought a couple of the new Moultries so we will be testing those out this fall. If money is no object then the obvious answer is Reconyx. I have tried stealth cams, home brews and cuddeants and they are all not what I am looking for in a cam. You get what you pay for in the cheapies, no doubt. The home brews take good flash pictures, but I don't like flash cameras myself and they just don't take enough pictures for me. When I check my Reconyx cameras every 2 weeks or so I am pissed if I don't have more than 2000 pictures.....and this is setting it on 3 burst mode, pic every 3 seconds, and then shutting down for 15 seconds. There are so many different things that you can do with them on # of pictures it will take. Come Rut, cam is on a scrape and on Rapidfire.....at least one picture a second. I had over 100 pictures of 2 shooter bucks fighting in the middle of a scrape last year...that is just priceless in my opinion.
I would rather have 2 Reconyx cameras over 5 $200 cameras....but that is just me and my opinion. To each his own.

I love my day pics from my covert reveal. Night pics are good too. I got it for $96 shipped. Trigger is 1.2 and sometimes quicker than that.
The thing I don't understand is why a $600 camera doesn't have video mode. They figured out that technology in cams selling for $150, but Reconyx doesn't?
An excellent point. The thing I don't understand is why a $600 camera doesn't have video mode. They figured out that technology in cams selling for $150, but Reconyx doesn't?
That is a good point Stump. But then again what are you going to do with all of the video clips? You can't print out the video and put it on the wall next to your mount.

Ha ha! That is also true !!!!That is a good point Stump. But then again what are you going to do with all of the video clips? You can't print out the video and put it on the wall next to your mount.
Another thing I have learned with my Reconyx is that it takes so many pics of each deer you can view them is rapid fire mode and it's almost like watching a video!
I hate the price on a Reconyx, but I will say this much...There isn't a trigger out there as fast, quiet and reliable. Simply amazing.
You can grab still shots of video to throw on the wall if you wish.Of course it's a personal preference thing, but I'm a big fan of catching video of animals at a scrape or rub over getting pics of them there.
And add to the fact that on most every piece of ground I've ever hunted, I run the risk of my stands or cameras growing legs and walking away. Having a $80 stand and/or a $150-$200 camera walk away is painful, but not nearly as much if it were a Lone Wolf or a Reconyx.![]()
Hey MNBow- I was gonna post some sample pics off my trophy cams for you, but something isnt working with the photo posting thing right now, and its not letting me upload pics from my photobucket..I will post some up later if I can..
And heres something for comparison for you - The cuddebacks have a fast trigger time, but a very narrow detection zone, which is how they always get the subject of the photo in the middle of the photo. The bushnells have a very wide zone of detection, so you will get more pictures of animals traveling through the area, but they will not always be centered in the pic like cudde claims theirs does. Also, every once in a while (rare though), I will get a blank picture and from what I read online, its from the detection zone being a little wider than the camera lens, and since the trigger time is like 1.2 seconds, it will sometimes detect the animal and snap the pic before its even in the camera view..but if you dont have the delay set on the cam, it will take another pic within 7-8 seconds, so you still get pics of the animal.. The bushnells are the same as the coverts and the scoutguards, but come with a 2-year warranty vs a 1 with the other cams.
