I haven't even seen a tree yet! I'll definitely be out this weekend though.

Sorry to hear about your doe CB. Congrats to your wife!! Any pictures that you would mind sharing? Is this her first deer?

Im not going to post any pictures of her and her deer. But it was her first deer ever. She went gun hunting last year and saw a ton of deer but wanted to get one with the bow. Now i think she will be bow only.

I missed a sow of a doe on Saturday, watched as my Firenock took a dogleg right and hit the dirt 5 feet in front of her. I saw more deer on Saturday in this location than I did all of last season. All in all it was a good start.

    Well opening weekend was OK
Saw 5 deer on Sat. 3 bucks and 2 somethings
The cool thing was 1 of the bucks was an ok 8 pointer but had bright red antlers
Must have just been rubbing, for they still looked pretty wet.

Sunday jumped a doe and fawn walking in to another stand over looking a small corn field.
Saw another buck but not sure of size was in the corn.
Saw a 12 point but no shot throught the corn
it was a 7 by 5, the g2 was split and also had a kicker trying to be a drop tine.
it was a rather small racked deer in spread and tine length
but it was not on camera at all this year

Awesome!! Congratulation's to your wife!! As for myself, been stuck In my milk truck too much to hunt. This weekend I'm heading up north to try and help my brother, his wife, and my dad get themselves a bear. I'll get out deer hunting here one of these weeks. For sure by mid October.

I have been out 3 times. Opening morning didn't see a deer. Then opening evening saw 5 bucks and a doe. Three of the bucks passed at twenty yards but were deer that my hunting buddy and I decided we would let walk this year. The other two bucks were shooter 8 pts (one around 130" and the other pushing 140") They came out at 70 yds and never came closer. Last hunt was on sunday in the rain and I passed on the same three bucks I passed the night before. All in all a great start. Looking forward to the rest of the season. Heading out this weekend again.

Awesome on the doe kill. I would have killed one on Saturday morning, but I had my wifes ten year class reunion picnic to go to, so.......I passed on 3 does. Saturday night I jumped a PIG walking into my set. I hunt from a tree saddle and was just getting every thing set when he jumped up. I'm guessing a 160's ten pointer....stud. He stopped, looked back and I actually think he winked at me as he walked off. I think he thought I was a horse. At last light I passed a 130's framed, 7 pointer....hoping for the "big boy". Out of town from last sunday till next thursday, then hoping to kill something....Good luck fellas!!!!!

Only been out once, last Saturday. My daughter and I saw 27 doe and fawns in one of my food plots. It was awesome, could have shot at 20 of them or so. It was just nice to be out there but if it would have been cooler we would have been eating fresh tenderloin.

I've only been able to get out 2 days so far and the deer sightings are way down but I have been sitting field edges both times. I think the deer are really locked on the acorns right now. I hope to get out next saturday morning and sit a stand surrounded by acorns.

I've got to admit that I'm a bit jealous! I'm STILL WAITING for the Illinois season to open this Sat (Oct.1) ! I can't wait to get out there just to spend some time in the trees.

Default Went out tonight on doe patrol

My buddy and I sat in a ground blind all night over a last minute bean field. Watched 4 doe walk into the field about 300 yards away. When leaving the blind (well after dark) we walked back to the truck with 4 or 5 more watching us from 20 yards that we never knew were there. Did someone tell these deer the season opened up or what? Been watching these em all summer thought I had thier # but yet they got ours!!! Learn from today get out there tomorrow!!!!

Been out 3 times and seen quite a few deer. 19 doe and fawns last night with maybe 13 in range for a shot. In 25 days or so it should get interesting.
