    Default Shooting recurve

I just shot recurve for the first time and man that is fun. I have shot compound bow since i started at age 15. My father-in-law taught me to shoot the recurve this week and it was a blast. Even though i couldnt hit anything.

I was fortunate enough to get a recurve for free from a coworker the other day (an OLD York Cadet), although not legal for deer hunting (its only 27#) its still a ton of fun learning with it, and it should atleast be good for rabbits and squirrels

Starting with a light draw weight is the best way to learn instinctive shooting! Most guys think they can handle the same weight recurve as their compound, and all they do is learn sloppy form and poor mechanics. You'll have a blast with that bow...Have fun shootin' some bunnies!

Always fun to fling some arrows! Whatever keeps ya out there practicing. It seems to many shooters are bored and need to put the fun back in it! Good luck and good shootin

    Cowboy-

If you are looking for an AWESOME recurve at an awesome price, check out the Samick Sage Takedown. 3Rivers sells them for $130. They are an incredible bow for the money... Alot of the negative reviews on 3Rivers are because of a crappy finish, but it must be a hit-or-miss kinda thing because the finish on mine is flawless...

I bought mine with 45# limbs, and then I can buy heavier ones after I get stronger and better at shooting it.

If you decide to go with that bow, contact me before you buy it and maybe we can work a deal out with some limbs or something..(you buy it with heavier limbs and I'll trade you my limbs plus some cash or something...)

Gotcha..I did alot of looking for used ones too but ended up getting that Sage.. My issue with the majority of the used ones was that many of them were really old (and then you have to worry about limb twist), and I didnt find many of any quality for under $130..

    Good luck in your search!

I know his FIL very well. Chuck will get you going In the right direction for sure cowboy. Be careful, shooting a traditional bow Is addictive and fun. I've been hunting with one now for 16 years.
