    Default Deer number way down!?!?!

Does anybody else think the deer numbers are way down this year?? I am not seeing anywhere close to the number of deer I normally do. I also have VERY FEW 1 1/2 year old bucks on trail cam or sightings. Talked to a few people the last 2 days that said the same thing as me. Talked to the local game warden and he said that the deer numbers are way down from what he is seeing and hearing.
Is it November 2012 yet?? 2011 sucked arse for me!!

    Default Yes they are!

In areas 344 and 345 around Winona you can only tag 1 deer per calender year regardless what licenses you buy... You may still purchase bonus tags to use in other Intensive areas, but only 1 deer can be tagged in these zones per person. I have never seen that before in my 14 years of hunting. ...Rumor has it the guy in charge of managing the whitetail herd for S.E. MN was from Wyoming and had no idea how to manage this type of terrain and mass of hunters.. In his defense, I'm sure he was good at what he did before, but just failed here. Hopefully the numbers turn around here shortly!

I was thinking the same thing the other day. I haven't seen a deer on the side of the road driving to work or just around.

    Post Numbers down..

There are about 6 of us hunting right now on the ridges on and around my farm, and the deer sightings have been very few and far between. We have had several sits over the past 5 days that have been skunked. No deer have been harvested in the past two weeks within my group, and last night out of six of us, only 3 of us saw deer, and it was only one deer each. I agree that the numbers are down, but there is also very little we can do about it. Good luck.
