Thread: Shooters?

    Default Shooters?

Now keep in mind the property that im on doesn't produce 150 inch deer on a regular basis. I hunt on a small property that is surrounded by other small properties where there is no management pratices going on what so ever. I do my part harvest does and let the small ones go but im one guy on one small chunk of land. Anyways, here are a few decent bucks i have on cam, just wanted some opinions i guess. try to remain positive please. First pic is a guy i got on cam basically in my backyard on the small 2.5 acre chunk i bought with my house. And the second is on my family's 80 acres.

I'd say yes to the first one and no to the other one, especially if you own 80 acres there and could control a little more of his home range.

one more year and those deer are quite a bit bigger. from 3 to 4 they tend to really grow and blow up from 4 to 5.

Some of you may think it is funny that I am saying this but I truely believe a "shooter" or "trophy" is in the eye of the beholder. If any of those bucks are going to make you happy, I say shoot away. Sure they may reach that magical age of 5 or 6, but lets be honest they would need A LOT of things to go right under your circumstances (high pressure). Best of luck of your quest. Keep us updated!

    i agree with pope
trophy is in the eye of the beholder
if either are bigger than anything i shot i would be happy taking either if given the opportunity
that is how i look at a trophy

the family land buck would look real nice in couple years if his rack keeps growing like it is, backyard buck if you can take him i would take him.

thanks for the input guys. i am still unsure what i would do if i seen one of these bucks, but thats the thing i have to actually see one of them before i even have to worry about making a decision. I guess ill have to make the judgement if that time comes. I was kind of leaning twards shoot the backyard buck and pass the family land buck. But we will see. Hopefully i can get an eye ball on something with antlers this season. lol
