Last year missed easily the biggest buck I have ever shot at. He was standing broadside at 40-45 yards. I shot him for 30 yards. His huge body and rack threw me off as to how far away he was. Never seen him again and have never gotten a trail camera picture of him. A couple years ago I missed a buck at probably 10 yards with my shotgun ( Have no freaking clue as to how I missed) but my follow up shot anchored him.
Is it November 2012 yet?? 2011 sucked arse for me!!
I missed a 174 inch typical 10 in 2000 that I will never forget. 15 yard shot and watched the arrow sail right over the top of him as he was quartering toward me. I had called him away from a doe if you can believe that. Heart breaker....I still cuss today over that miss. I got to watch him to long.
One of the neighbors gun shot him that season. That is how I know what the official net score was.

It's quite possible that I've missed a couple doe at less than 20 yards.
Dbl, that would be a heart breaker!
missed one this year opening morning at about 10 yards, i have a hha sight and i forgot i was practicing at 25 yards day before and shot over her back.

I think It was back In 1996, my 2nd year shooting a recurve. I shot over a doe at 12 yards, took the hair off of her back. I'm pretty sure I just messed up and shot high but I've often wondered If she ducked the arrow as she was on alert some.
Missed a doe at 15 yards. My arrow broke aboud 1" infront of the feathers in flight i dont know why. Still wonder what happened.
Two years ago I was after a buck that I had only seen with a spotlight. He was a tall racked nine pointer. After work I decided to hunting even though I would only have about 1 and 1/2 hours to sit on stand before darkness. "Can't kill a buck on your couch" I told myself" so I went with little expectations because it was the mid of October. I tried rattling after the first 1/2 hour and within 5 minutes I had this particular buck come running in (what are the chances?). He has no clue that I'm 5 yards away. I draw back, he's broadside, in the wide open (except for a small pencil sized branch maybe smaller!!!) I crouched down to shoot under the small branch, place the pin on his vitals. Still he has no clue of my presence. I release the arrow and all of the sudden the arrow deflects off something. The arrow was flying so fast and such a short distance that I hopnestly couldn't tell how bad the deflection was. At this point, I still thought I'd hit him good (how could you not at that range!). Not really sure what had happened I climbed down and I see my arrow broke in half and blood everywhere! Thinking that I must have hit him good I backed out and waited a couple hours. My buddy and I went to the location of the crime to find good blood. We tracked him up a small hill for 70 yards and towards the top the blood seemed to have almost stopped. We decided it would be best to wait till morning. Once we got back to the truck I was a bit down but still hopeful. As we are driving away the headlights show a deer in the road. Yep, the buck I had just hit a couple hours ago. He was limping badly. I hit him around the kneecap on one of his front legs! He was fine and I knew he would survive. He was later shot during gun season. Everything worked on this particular hunt except one thing ME!
So it is not a true miss, but it is a missed oppurtunity that I will never forget.

6 yrs ago missed a doe at 10 yds. I shot and saw a big poof of hair come from the top of her back. No blood on the ground. It was my first yr bowhunting.
