Default Ever had one killed that YOU wanted SOOOOO BAD!!!?

I have been hunting this buck for two years. I have great history with him. Photos, watched him running doe, had him at ten yard while hanging a stand this summer! I LOVED THIS DEER! I know he's not the oldest in the woods but I know him well. I have hunted him, I have been on his front door step. I thought he was mine or he would live forever. I was worried about him this week last last year over gun season.... He was shot by a member of my hunting party.. happy for him yes but how it happened no! Most of us have grown up gun hunting, but when I found bow hunting I found "my season" the season where I was alone in the woods. Nobody else had an effect on my hunt like can so often happen during WI gun hunts. My heart hurt. I guess I'm just asking.... you guys ever had this happen to you?

    Beautiful whitetail indeed!

And yes, it's happened to me...It's an experience that teaches you alot!

You'll have many more great bucks in your future though...Every year there's a new set of challenges that keep us coming back

Had it happen to me several times and it stings just as bad everytime. I would say last year is the only time I was truely happy for the other hunter that got the deer I knew so well!! It was my dad who shot him
Is it November 2012 yet?? 2011 sucked arse for me!!

I had a heartbreaker of a year. My top three all got taken out within one week. My top two I found out about the same day. I have been following the top two for a few years. I had the number three buck at 20 some yards, but let him walk. My #1 absolutely consumed my life. I was constantly thinking about him and what he was doing. I had dreams about him almost every night. Makes a guy think twice about running camera's and following deer. With all that said I couldn't be more happy for the hunters who harvested them. To often people these days like to think they own deer if they spend time improving the herd. Im hoping some mature deer move back into my area otherwise it will be a couple years of rebuilding.

Yes!!! VERY much so. I actually wounded this buck In 2009. Had him at about 12 yards but messed up the shot. It was my 2nd hunt for this particular buck. I saw him 4 more times that year but never any closer then 30 yards. I take that back. I had him at 10 yards one time after I wounded him, he got through my tiny 6 Inch shooting hole too quick before I could get my recurve back to full draw. Here are the pics below from that year (2009).

Shed hunting last year In the Spring. Over a year this shed layed on the ground. Wasn't chewed up too bad. I didn't find this but my brother did. He then gave me the shed from this buck.

2010. I saw this same buck 4 times In 2010. Had him as close as 12 yards once but It was too thick to shoot. A few minutes later he walked across my walk In trail and busted out.

Here's a video of him. This was the 1st picture/video I got of him that year. Man I was pumped!

A few more pics from 2010.

The end result. Shot by the neighbor 1/8 mile away during the Muzzle Loader season. He measured out roughly at 160 Inches. His Inside spread was 20 1/2 Inches. He would've went close to 170 Inches If his 6 Inch G1 wouldn't of broke. Some of his other points were missing an Inch or so also. His G2 on one side was 12.5 Inches as was his G3 on his left side. He was a fighter, very aggressive buck. He dressed out at 145lbs. He was all of 220lbs dressed when I 1st saw him October 28th. I've been watching this buck since 2007. I passed him up as a mid 120's to 130 Inch buck back when he was 3.5 years old In 2008. I knew everything about this buck but just couldn't get him Inside 30 yards enough. I shoot a recurve so I need my animals close. I learned a ton from hunting ONLY him for 2 years straight. Although I didn't get him I learned allot about older bucks In general. All In all It was a great experience. The hunter who killed him had never saw this buck before. This buck was 5.5 years old. The hunter actually watched him breed a doe 1st before he shot him. He shot him November 28th. The sad thing was, I heard the shot. I knew It too, I had that bad feeling.
