I believe anything over $1,500 is considered a felony. Hope they throw the book at him.

    67,

The kid can't get charged with any game violations because he basically shot a highly prized steer. Which includes poaching charges.

To my understanding if you commit a wildgame violation with a bow, such as poaching you can never hunt with a bow either. Anybody know if there is any truth to this.

No its not true unless you are a habitual offender. This particular case is not a wildgame offense anyways.

I heard he is being charged with one wildgame violation. Something to do with him using his tag on the deer. Not quite sure what.

I doubt there is any violation if there is I doubt it will stick. It would be like killing a cow and putting your tag on and trying to register it. He didn't kill a wild animal and try and use a tag on it so what are they gonna do?

well, considering that would be illegal as well, there's still the violation from using your tag on an animal that's not legal to take. You can only use your tag on an animal that it's legal for, not to mention registering an illegal harvest.

Are they big violations? No, I don't think so. But they're still violations to the hunting laws.

I'm not too sure of the details, but that country singer from Montgomery and Gentry plead down from a felony to a $15,000 fine and lost hunting privledges for a few years when he got nailed tagging a pet bear? If I remember right, he bought the bear, shot it in a fenced area, then took it out and registerred it. Basically nothing illegal (other than the million ethical things) except tagging it and saying it was a fair chase kill. I believe that would fall under game violation.
