Default What whitetail regulations would you have the DNR change if you could?

With the hunting season(s) still fresh on everyone's mind, what regs would you like to see changed....if you could. Archery, gun or other.

    Default muzzleloader scope

I can live with it either way but would be cool if you could use a scope on a muzzleloader during muzzleloader season....Even tho I have only went once....

Oh, and any part of your gun leaning on a bumper or tire is considered IN the car and is a instant ticket...never really understood that one....

I like the idea of being able to use a muzzleloader with a scope during the muzzy season as well. Would be nice to use the same gun that I shoot in Iowa (where it is legal) and during the MN gun season and not have to take the scope off.

No more APR's and reinstate the law that allows cross tagging bucks. Also allow a buck with archery gear and another buck either by shotgun/rifle or muzzleloader. Move the gun season out of the main rut start the gun season about the time the current muzzleloader season starts and have the muzzleloader season in early October. Make the archery season from the 3rd weekend in August (reason is I really want to shoot a velvet buck before I am done hunting) to Jan 15th.
Is it November 2012 yet?? 2011 sucked arse for me!!

Allow scopes on muzzleloaders during muzzleloader season!!!!!! Most states have now accepted the fact that this is the best option and why should I have to take my scope off my muzzleloader after the gun seasons are over????? DUMB

I disagree with this. If we allow scopes on muzzleloaders then we should allow crossbows during archery season.

Nope that is why it wasn't listed in my regs I would change. I just feel that the new muzzleloaders with a scope are accurate out to 250 yards or more. Why don't we just have a shotgun season and then a special rifle season afterwards? I also think todays bows should be detuned (?) or something cause guys are taking 60+ yard shots at deer now days and that kinda puts it in the crossbow category in my opinion. The archery seasons weren't started with the thinking that guys were going to be able to shoot that far someday the same goes for muzzleloader in my opinion.

Scoped smoke poles = precision killing

    Tuned bows = precision killing

    IMO

Why not be as ethical as possible? I love driving one right through the heart...
If I could change anything it would be to allow crosshairs on muzzleloaders, and legal bucks should have to be 160 or bigger. HaHaHa J/K J/K MnBowhntr

so you are saying that somebody with a unscoped muzzleloader is not going to make a clean shot?? I have never hunted with a scope on anything and have done just fine. Are you saying that somebody who hunts with a recurve is not going to make a clean kill shot?? No it just makes you have to make your shot more precise!! Equalling precision killing!! Damn Grassbag that must sting alittle.....

I don't think anyone was suggesting you'd be required to use a scope and take 250+ yard shots with a muzzleloader or be required to use a compound and take a 60+ yard shots under the hypothetical regulation change. You can still hunt with a flintlock and long bow, if you'd like. But, I digress.

I'd love to be able to shoot four bucks a year on my property in WI...but I don't see that happening--guess I'll have to wait until I win the lottery and can buy 15,000 acres in Iowa with an address so I can spend three months there to become a 'resident'. Riiight. HAHA!

not saying you cant make a clean shot with traditional equipment... i do it all the time. im saying why not offer someone the satisfaction of confidence? you give me a muzzleloader with a scope on it i will give you a 3" group at 100 yards, take the scope off and i would assume that the group is going to expand by about 7-10 inches. same with a modern compound vs traditional bow at 30 yds. its a no brainer even you have to admit that. in other news we probably shouldnt be filling up this thread with our opinions on modern technology vs old school. its a deep sting...the sting is so deep!!! make it stop!!!

If your shooting abilities make you shoot a 3 inch group with a scope and a 10 inch group without then I AM SO GLAD that I don't hunt anywhere near you!! As for a modern bow versus a recurve have you ever heard of Byron ferguson?? if not look him up
