    Default Coyote Weapon of choice

If you were to get a coyote gun, what do you think that you would get? AR in a .223 or something else? Name the caliber and the specific gun.

Well I have had .22 250, .243 and now an AR in .223. Only reason I went to .223 is because I wanted an AR. First choice for caliber would probably be .22-250

I have an AR in .223 and also a single shot in .204 Ruger. Both are good guns and shoot well. If I were buying a gun specifically for varmint hunting (coyotes, foxes and such) I would probably get a bolt action Savage rifle chambered in 22-250 or 204 ruger. Both of these rounds have very similar balistics and are quite capable of 250-300 yard shots. In my opinion you can't get a better rifle for your money than a Savage (I have a 7mm rem mag and a 17HMR made by savage and they are both very good shooters straight out of the box with factory ammo). The AR's are fun guns and shoot ok, but they just aren't as acurate as a good bolt action rifle. My 204 is an absolute tack driver, but you can't get that quick follow up shot with a sigle shot action when multiples come in.

I've used a .220 Swift and I absolutely love it for Varmint.

I have good luck with my 243 WSSM. Shooting 300 yrds is no problem but somtimes the exit on a coyote can be crazy.
If your looking to get money for the pelt I'd drop back to a smaller caliber. Dont forget about the tried and tru 12 gauge and buck shot for those close encounters in the woods. This works great when they are coming in fast and close.
